When you mention Indian wine there are a few reactions. There are the ones that are surprised India even produces wine, and then there are the ones that pull a face which can only mean they have tried a few (or even only one) and didn’t enjoy them. Last week I visited India’s main wine region, Nashik, and am proud to report that India has really stepped up it’s game and is producing some fabulous wines we should all watch out for.

Last week I spent my days soaking up some sun in the beautiful region of Provence in the South of France known for some incredible wines. I fancied reconnecting with my wine knowledge and picked out a few vineyards I wanted to learn more about. I packed my bags, a few paracetemols for those inevitable drinking headaches, and off I went to Marseille.

I’ve been waiting 8 lonnnng weeks for my wine results for the Level 3 WSET (Advanced wine course) exams and they finally arrived today. Yay!

For the last two weeks I have been confined to a cellar…ok don’t feel too sorry for me. It was in a beautiful part of London and I was learning about wine. Now to people who have never professionally studied wine this must sound amazing! A whole two weeks drinking wine – maybe this drizzly summer isn’t that bad after all.

Last week I went to an interesting evening pairing beer with curry. At first I was skeptical, thinking that the combo of beer with curry was so old fashioned, and that wine and curry was the new thing. And even then it’s not that new! So much so that a few years ago I wanted to learn more about the fascinating subject of wine, and so decided to do a qualification through WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust).
