Cooking for children can always be a challenge and you need to be inventive to keep them interested. It’s important for them to try different foods, and I am big believer in kids being exposed to world cuisine from a young age. I’m pretty sure the first solids to pass my lips was something Indian and I’ve loved it ever since.

Jammu is in Kashmir in the north of India and is full of great Kashmiri food. There are so many dishes that appear on restaurant menus that owe its origins to this wonderful cuisine and I sampled some of it in places known for them.

I headed to Varq In Taj Mahal Palace Hotel to see what exciting food Grand Master Chef Oberoi had created. He is a personal friend of mine so we got a special tasting menu and OMG!

I have always loved street food. Every country I visit, the first thing I do is head out and have something local and traditional, usually on the street, if the food looks safe. Saying that, I’ve not always followed my own rules, and have certainly paid the price!

I decided to step out of my comfort zone last week, and was asked to cater and demonstrate at an event in central London. I was apprehensive, but soon realised that if you are prepared and organised then there is no need to worry about anything. Apart from slicing your finger off during your dem of course!

There are so many myths about garam masala I don’t even know where to begin. And it’s hard to know exactly what is in it. When I started learning recipes from my family when I knee high, it was one of the first masalas they shared with me.
