Warming Tipple

Difficulty: Easy

This is the ideal drink to make when the weather turns chilly and the dark nights draw in. You can add whatever alcohol you fancy but I prefer brandy. It seems to work beautifully with the spices and citrus.

  • 500 ml water
  • 8 cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 orange, juice and zest
  • 1 lemon, juice and zest
  • 1 heaped tablespoon brown sugar or good squeeze of honey
  • good glug of brandy

1. Put all the ingredients in a pan and gently heat until warm. Don’t bring to the boil. Serve in a huge mug to warm you up in no time.
