Eating your way around the world…

Eating your way around the world…

This week was a pretty special week on the foodie scene. Every year hundreds of restaurants around the globe are nominated for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants; the most prestigious restaurant awards and only a lucky 50 get through. If you wanted to cross them all off then you really could eat your way around the world.

I can be a bit of a food snob and I have a foodie bucket list that I am always amending as new, exciting restaurants keep finding their way onto my radar. Sometimes my list overlaps with the world’s top 50, but I can honestly say that I am happy that it doesn’t match exactly as I would almost certainly be bankrupt!

At the top of the list for the 3rd year running is Noma in Copenhagen. An innovative restaurant boasting the very best of Nordic cuisine that cannot be experienced anywhere else. Travelling all the way to Denmark for lunch or dinner seems crazy to most people, but lucky for us it needn’t be a crazy thought anymore. Rene Redzepi is doing a pop up for 10 days in Claridges in London. I practically fainted when I heard.

It’s going to be almost impossible to get a table, very much like when Thomas Keller was in London doing a pop up at Harrods of his world famous French Laundry restaurant. But I will be sure to try my darn hardest to get a reservation.

Even if I was lucky enough to get a res I’m not sure if I will be able to get over how much it will cost me, and I’m almost certain it will be more than when I went to The Fat Duck a few years ago. That was eye wateringly pricey. I must add though, that it was well worth it and the memory will stick with me for a really long time. Excellent food, executed with perfection and service to match. An all round once in a lifetime dining experience.

So fingers and toes crossed I get a res…as for the rest of the list…I’m proud to say I’ve crossed off a few over the years, and I will continue on my quest travelling the world trying to cross off the rest.
