Flavours of the East from town’s spice queen
Bolton’s own spice girl will be adding a little Eastern flavour to this weekend’s Food and Drink Festival.
Anjali Pathak, Granddaughter of Patak’s spice empire founder LG Pathak, will be cooking up a treat in the Rangemaster cookery theatre in Victoria Square on Saturday.
She said: “I really wanted to get involved in this year’s festival and think it’s a great way to support the community. Hopefully it will inspire people and get them back in the kitchen.
“I was brought up in the kitchen and food was the main event in our household. Bolton’s got so many things to shout about and I think the festival will really help put the town on the map.”
The cuisine queen will be creating a healthy Indian meal, with sea bass as her main course served with a simple aromatic Pilau Rice.
Anjali’s parents Kirit and Meena Pathak have run the business since her grandfather’s death in Bolton in 1997.
Cllr John Byrne, Bolton’s Council’s Executive member for development, said: “Within Bolton we have a real mix of cultures and we want to celebrate our diversity in this festival.”
